How We Research Our Guides

WILD PLACES ENGLAND

Useful details, with their limits made clear

Our aim is to help you choose a visit that suits you. That means checking practical information, explaining uncertainty and avoiding promises that a whole landscape is easy for everyone.

Choosing and checking sources

For arrival details, opening arrangements, dog rules and facilities, we start with the organisation responsible for the place. Park authorities, reserve managers, councils and published access guides provide the main evidence. We compare sources when details differ and give priority to a specific current notice over a general timetable.

We link to the sources used and record when published information was reviewed. That date describes our research, not the date of a personal site inspection. Prices, opening arrangements, paths and facilities can change afterwards.

Access information that helps you decide

A wheelchair entrance does not establish that every path beyond it is suitable. A short walk can still contain a steep slope, and a toilet may only be available when a building is staffed. We try to make those distinctions visible.

We do not infer measured gradients, path widths, rest distances or suitability for a particular mobility aid from a photograph. Where the source is incomplete, we say what needs checking. If your visit depends on a particular facility or arrangement, please confirm it with the operator.

Photographs and films

Images help convey a place and are accompanied by descriptive alternative text where appropriate. Third party photographs carry credit and licence links. They may show a different season or an older condition, and they do not prove that a route is currently accessible.

Relevant videos are embedded from their hosting platform when available. The creator retains responsibility for the film. Older footage is identified where its age affects how it should be understood.

Independence and corrections

Our guides are written to help visitors make informed choices. Advertising, if introduced, will be identified and kept separate from editorial recommendations. Any future paid relationship or affiliate link will be disclosed clearly.

If you notice an error, please include the page address, the detail that needs changing and an official source if you have one. We will check the information before amending the guide. We do not describe a claim as verified simply because it has been submitted.

The website does not replace local signs, staff advice or your judgement about conditions on the day.
